Tammy has decided to embrace the University of Kansas “Jayhawk” mascot. To be honest,
here in Lawrence there is no way to avoid a Jayhawk, they are everywhere, and I mean everywhere.
In this city there is an abundance, if not an over abundance of Jayhawk statues, flags, and banners.
I have seen more than one Jayhawk painted on the side of Houses. OK, Lawrence is a college town
with team spirit, got it.

But there is more to Lawrence. It has a vibrant downtown centered around Massachusetts Ave.
Where there are many restaurants, unique shops, multiple breweries, an art scene and a number of
beautiful parks. There are also a number of beautiful tree lined neighborhoods a short walk from
downtown where we found great examples of grand victorians, arts and craft and bungalow style homes.
Lawrence is the kind of small city where you can listen to patriotic tunes at the south park gazebo performed by the Lawrence City Band one evening and find a club featuring a Gypsy Jazz quartet the next.
