Today I saw an interesting paving project underway. The work crew had ripped up a stretch of tarmac and were restoring the street using traditional methods to install the individual stones. Large webbing reinforced bags filled with square pavers had been deposited at the site where the workers set lines and laid the stones. This is surely a very time consuming and costly operation, done no doubt, to maintain the historic look of this UNESCO world heritage city.
