On Sunday morning we arrived at the Dachau railway station and walked the “Path of Remembrance'', the 3 km route taken by the arriving prisoners to the concentration camp. Upon reaching the camp, officially designated as the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial site, I was profoundly aware of the disturbing history of this place. We walked the entire site with an English speaking tour group, and there were many areas, the gas chambers and crematorium, which I found particularly unsettling. For me, the ground provokes the need for deep and solemn reflection.
