Today on our last full day in Germany we boarded a river ferry for a pleasant ride up the Rhine river to the island of Reichenau. We spent several hours walking the footpath that circumnavigates the island. The well marked route follows the shore line, and also meanders through back yard gardens, farm fields, village lanes and passes several old churches. Adjacent to the church of St Mary and Marcus, there was a shop selling island produced wine, and we decided to purchase a bottle to help support the local economy.
The ferry ride back to Konstanz was just as pleasant as the journey up river, and on our course we must have passed hundreds of swans, a sweet farewell to our month in Germany.
