Regensburg Est.179 AD

Regensburg was established in the year 179 AD as a walled Roman Legion fortification on the southern bank of the Danube. There are numerous locations throughout the city where we were able to view the remains of the old wall, the east tower and entry gate. There is a particularly fine example of the original wall located under a parking garage. This section of wall was discovered during construction and was preserved for public viewing. If not for our native tour guide, my cousin Gilbert, we would surely have missed many of the more obscure locations.

This arch leads to a Beer Garden....Seriously!

  1. And where else would it go? 😄🍻 After all, beer is not a beverage in Germany, it's classified as food!
