The Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) pictured above has an unusual feature to the left of the staircase to the great hall, a grouping of 3 metal rods. These were the City's standard measurements. From what I am able to discern they correspond to the measure of the width of spread arms, a foot and an arm. I did check one of the measurements, and apparently a foot is equal to a size 11 shoe.

You need to visit when it is open! You WILL be amazed at the accuracy of the scales!!! Do NOT miss it!
