When in Friedrichshafen…….book a Zeppelin ride! While Friedrichshafen is steeped in Zeppelin history, it is also the location of the modern manufacturing company Zeppelin Luftscifftechnik GmbH. Since the 1990s this successor to the original Zeppelin Company has been producing the Zeppelin NT (new technology) class of rigid Helium airships, and are seen daily flying over Lake Constance. Today Tammy and I experienced a ride aboard the 14 passenger Zeppelin, Eureka, registration number D-LZNT.
Tammy’s death grip on the arm rest is a clear indication of her fear of heights. Watching the film clips of the Hindenburg disaster at the Zeppelin Museum earlier today probably didn’t help.
