The best views of the walled city are from the Guinigi tower. Originally built by the Guinigi family, wealthy renaissance merchants, it is now owned by the local government and open to the public. The most unusual feature are the beds at the summit containing holm oaks which provide a shade canopy to better enjoy the stunning views of Lucca and the surrounding mountains.
