During the quiet afternoon which followed last night's candlelight procession, we suddenly heard the sounds of a marching band approaching. This military style unit marched into the nearby Piazza San Michele and proceeded to perform three familiar Italian favorites. The impromptu concert was met with great approval from the gathering crowd. Then suddenly, this mystery band in a locked step marched away, disappearing as quickly as they appeared. I love serendipitous moments like these.
