Day trip: Pedi and Chorio

Yesterday we took the local bus over the hillside to the village of Pedi, a small shallow harbor with a nice beach complete with umbrellas, recliners and a restaurant. After a respectful time lounging about, we had a lovely lunch of grilled red mullet before heading back.

On our bus ride back to the main town, we stopped at the top of the hill overlooking the harbor in an area known as Chorio, where most of the locals live, unlike the port below where the tourists stay. Chorio has a number of old windmills, some converted into homes. There are also a few restaurants, and shops scattered amongst this largely residential neighborhood. Most of the daytripper tourists don’t bother to climb the 500+ steps, which makes this spot even more appealing to us!
