Nisyros

 Our journey on the Athens to Rhodes overnight ferry, docks at the island of Nisyros at 4:30 am. We disembark and find a small, very quiet and very dark town. As we wander down the narrow main street in search of our Airbnb, a woman appears. It is our host, Sophia, who has come to greet us and help us navigate the route to our new lodging.

As the sun rises on the town of Madraki, here on Nisyros, we are delighted to find ourselves in a classic Greek island picture postcard. White washed stone houses with doors and shutters in vibrant accent colors, and the deep blue waters of the Aegean sea with views of distant islands.
