We enjoy our daily walks, and today we are following a route suggested to us by our new Kayaking friends, Mel and David. The plan is to travel south on a coastal trail until we reach Limanagzi, enjoy the beach, and then return to Kas via water taxi. As we leave Kas walking along the road heading south, we eventually spot a small sign directing us to Limanagzi. We follow the dirt road some distance until the road forks and then abruptly ends in both directions. Unable to find the trail, we begin to double back, when we meet a couple also in search of the unmarked trail. A second couple arrives, and they fortunately know the way. We now have a trusty guide who leads us through the scrubby trail and down the cliff side rock face, passing several rock tombs, using rope holds.
We were informed that this trail is part of the Lycian Way, a 540 km (335 mile) coastal hiking trail which runs from Fethiye to Antalya, here on the Lycian peninsula. Many avid hikers embark on this 30+ day journey, either camping or staying at guest houses along the route.
