Kayaking to Kekova

For today's adventure, we booked a sea kayak tour departing from the village of Kalekoy, 30 minutes from Kas. The highlight of our tour had us paddling to Kekova island to view the sunken city of Dolchiste. The underwater ruins are the remains of an ancient Lycian settlement which became partially submerged as the result of an earthquake during the 2nd century.

Our lunch was prepared for us in Simena, a remote village only accessible by boat, or in our case kayak.

Our itinerary also included several opportunities to swim in the pleasantly warm waters of this beautiful turquoise bay. While floating past ancient ruins is unique, today was really about a great day on the water with a colorful guide and sharing the experience with new friends.
