Namo Buddha

The following morning after arriving at Namo Buddha, we walked to the Thangu Tashi Yangtse Buddhist Monastery. The complex was considerably larger than I had anticipated. In addition to the main temple building, there is a medical clinic and a school educating over 100 young monks. More information is available at the Monastery website:

A short walk down the road led us to the entrance to the“Old Stupa'' where the atmosphere was serene and respectful, unlike the chaotic scenes at the large Kathmandu Stupas. Men were cleaning the accumulation of candle wax and several women were preparing plates of food as offerings.

Close by we spied a series of small restaurants, one in particular was serving a table of three monks who encouraged us to enter and try the “real Nepali food”. During the course of our Dal Bhat (rice, lentil & veg) lunch, we all became fast friends.
