Pokhara and the Paparazzi

We have arrived at the Peace Eye Guest House in Pokhara. From our window, the street or for that matter everywhere in town we have a view of the snow capped mountains of the Annapurna range.

10 minutes from our hotel we were on the shoreline walk of the beautifully serene Lake Fewa. There were clusters of colorful wooden rowboats located at a busy landing ready to shuttle passengers to the nearby Tal Barahi Temple island.

Now we are used to being approached by all manner of touts, but today the most unusual thing happened. Several young students on a field trip advanced towards Tammy until she was totally surrounded. They all requested selfies and group photos with the exotic foreign lady with blue eyes and short red tinted hair. After extracting Tammy from her star struck teenage fans we decided to grab a boat to the island. Sparing no expense on our escape, we sprung for the 105 Rupee round trip ticket (80 cents) and joined the other island explorers.

There were many families placing offerings at the temple and enjoying a warm Sunday afternoon outing. But here on the island, there were a number of women who also approached Tammy. These island Paparazzi were relentless in their demands for selfies with the alluring lady from a land far far away.
Well, what can I say other than Tammy has a certain “je ne sais quoi”.
