There is an abundance of amazing street food available here in Koh Chang, like the cart outside of the Seven-Eleven store. This lady makes the best Papaya salad by mixing garlic, chillies, palm sugar, fish sauce, lime juice and other secret ingedients in a mortar before adding the sliced papaya, long beans and roasted peanuts. Sweet, sour, tangy, crunchy……….Mmmm.
Possibly the best fried chicken I’ve ever had was from this humble food stall on the main ring road near Klong Prao beach. This tender boneless breast with a light crispy batter was dramatically chopped with a cleaver into strips and served with a killer hot Thai chili dipping sauce. Whoa Nelly!
Another of our favorites is the ‘Boat Noodles’ stand, where a simple bowl of noodles in broth with the traditional strips of beef and pork meatballs was a great savory snack. Boat noodles began as a hearty fast food served from boats along the Bangkok canals, but can now be found everywhere in Thailand.
And for dessert: Fresh Mango, Passion Fruit ice cream being made to order.
