Tam Coc

We are now in Tam Coc, a small village in northern Vietnam, a 2 hour drive south of Hanoi. This region is part of a Unesco recognized landscape complex consisting of rivers and rice paddies which wind through large limestone formations called Karsts.

The best way to experience this unique environment is by hiring one of the many flat bottom tour boats available.

As we glided along the waterway, our guide propelled us using the well known Tam Coc method of rowing with her feet (quite a feat). Along our route we traveled through limestone caves and watched farmers tending the rice paddies, and fishermen enjoying the solitude.
