After a few days in the Macedonian capital, we traveled by bus to Ohrid, a lakeside city on the Macedonian/Albanian border. Lake Ohrid is a tourist destination with an abundance of guest houses and restaurants catering to tourists seeking a pleasant summer mountain retreat. There were nearby ruins dating back to the 4th century BC, and numerous orthodox churches, all worth exploring....
P.S. One evening while standing in the main square, I heard a marching band, and was compelled to investigate. Several groups dressed in traditional costumes passed by and quickly marched off. Just another unexplained magical moment:
