Cornwall: Doc Martin Country

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting many of the charming Cornish coastal villages especially Port Isaac, also known as the fictional town of Portwenn from the popular Doc Martin television series. Despite the town's notoriety and the daily influx of fans, the village still retains a quaint untouched feel. We bought our tourist map from the Harbor Treats gift shop, aka the Doc Martin chemist shop, and began our search for all of the program’s prime locations.

Another made to order film set, is the village of Charlestown, the backdrop for much of the television series Poldark. With period sailing ships, barrels on the dock, and the surrounding weathered stone structures, it took little effort to transport ourselves back in time to the era of merchant shipping and Cornish pirates.
