How can we afford Balloon Rides in Cappadocia on a fixed travel budget? Well for starters, we save money with cheap eats, like our lunches at the Goreme Kadin Kooperatifi (Women's Cooperative). As I understand it, this kitchen and lunch venue is a program designed to assist the female workforce in entering the local economy. The kitchen provides the women of the coop an opportunity to cook local recipes and sell them directly to the public, providing additional income for their families. Each day there is a different set menu, consisting of 4 very filling items, costing 60 Turkish Lira, or about $3. Not only are these meals a great value, they are really quite good traditional meals and a welcome break from the standard tourist Kebabs offered on every corner.
