For the next week we are in the central highlands city of Dalat, also known as the city of a thousand flowers and the city of eternal spring. A prominent feature of the city center is a large lake complete with swan boats and surrounded by many parks and gardens. The green theme even applies to the traffic circles which are well manicured with over the topiaries.
Here at 5000 ft (1500 m) asl, it is said that you can experience all four seasons in a day: spring in the morning, summer at midday, autumn in the evening and winter at night. The temperate climate, lovely lakeside and several unique attractions have made the city a very popular tourist destination within Vietnam. One such attraction is the ‘Crazy House’ a complex of structures interwoven with a maze of stairways. Imagine a collaboration by Antonin Gaudi, MC Escher, J.R.R. Tolkien with a dash of Salvador Dali thrown in for good measure, and you’ve got ‘Crazy House’.
